Endurance Sport Coaching

Don't just train for your next race. Develop as an athlete.

Individualised endurance coaching built around you, your training load and your long-term goals.

At Endurance Sport Coaching, we don't believe coaching should mean handing you a fixed training plan and hoping it works.

Your training should evolve as you do.

We work with athletes through rolling four-week coaching blocks, using TrainingPeaks to plan, monitor and review your training. Each block is built around where you are now, how you're responding to training and where you want to go next.

The goal isn't simply to get you to the start line.

It's to help you become a stronger, more consistent and more capable athlete.

Coaching that adapts to you

Training isn't performed in a vacuum.

Work, family, sleep, stress, previous training and your response to individual sessions all affect how much training you can effectively absorb.

That's why we place a strong emphasis on training load management.

Using TrainingPeaks, we can look at your training as a whole rather than judging individual sessions in isolation. This allows us to manage progression, recovery and intensity while continually adjusting your programme to your current needs.

More training isn't always better. Better-managed training is.

We don't want to write your training six months in advance and leave you to follow it regardless of what happens.

Instead, coaching works in four-week blocks.

At the beginning of each block, we consider:

  • Your current fitness and recent training

  • Your goals and upcoming events

  • Your available time to train

  • Your previous training load

  • How you've responded to the previous block

  • Any niggles, fatigue or changes in your circumstances

We then build the next four weeks around that information.

At the end of the block, we review your training and use what we've learned to determine what comes next.

This creates a continuous coaching process rather than a one-off training plan.

Why four-week blocks?

TrainingPeaks

Your training plan. Your data. Your feedback. One place.

TrainingPeaks is at the centre of our coaching process.

Your sessions are delivered directly through the platform, allowing you to see what you're doing, why you're doing it and how your training is progressing.

We use the information from your training to help assess:

Training load → Recovery → Adaptation → Progression

This allows us to make informed decisions about when to progress training, when to consolidate fitness and when you need more recovery.

The objective isn't to chase numbers for the sake of it.

It's to use your training data to make better coaching decisions.

Train hard. Recover well. Stay training.

One of the biggest barriers to long-term endurance performance isn't a lack of motivation.

It's inconsistency.

Doing too much, progressing too quickly or failing to allow enough recovery can lead to fatigue, poor performance and eventually injury.

Our approach is built around optimising training load so you can consistently train, recover and adapt.

Injury prevention isn't about avoiding hard training.

It's about making sure your training progresses at a rate your body can handle.

More than a race plan

A race plan can get you to one start line.

Coaching should help you become a better athlete.

We want to work with athletes who are interested in developing their fitness over months and years — not simply following a 12-week programme before starting again from scratch.

Your goals might change.

Your races might change.

Your available training time might change.

Your fitness will change.

Your coaching should change with you.

Whether you're working towards a faster 5K, your first marathon, a new cycling goal or eventually stepping into triathlon, the process remains the same:

Assess → Plan → Train → Review → Adapt → Progress

Run Coaching

Our coaching service initially focuses on running, supporting athletes across a range of abilities and goals.

Whether you're looking to:

  • Improve your 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon

  • Build consistent training habits

  • Return to structured training

  • Improve your endurance

  • Develop your overall athletic ability

  • Prepare for a specific event

your training is individually planned around you.

Who is this for?

Athletes who want more than a generic training plan.

You don't need to be an elite athlete.

You don't need to have years of experience.

You simply need to want to improve, train consistently and understand your development as an athlete.

If you're prepared to put the work in, we'll help make sure that work is structured, purposeful and sustainable.

Your next four weeks start here.

You don't need to know exactly what your training should look like six months from now.

You just need to know that you want to improve.

We'll work out the next four weeks together — and build from there.

Meet the Coaches

Anna Thomsen

Head Run Coach | Level 4 Sports Massage Therapist

Anna is a Level 4 Sports Massage Therapist and Leader in Running Fitness with a passion for running and endurance sport. As an active runner and cyclist herself, she understands the demands that consistent training places on the body and the importance of finding the right balance between training, recovery and everyday life.

As Head Coach, Anna takes a practical, athlete-focused approach to coaching, working with athletes to build sustainable training habits and develop their performance over time.

Her coaching philosophy centres around individualised training, appropriate progression and effective load management. Rather than following a fixed plan regardless of circumstances, each four-week block is built around the athlete's current fitness, goals, availability and response to the previous block.

Her background in sports massage also gives her a strong understanding of how athletes experience training and fatigue, complementing the wider coaching approach of keeping athletes healthy, consistent and progressing.

Multi Sport Coach | Sports Rehabilitator

Joshua Pine

Josh is an endurance coach and Sports Rehabilitator with a strong background in running and endurance sport. A 2:54 marathoner, Ironman finisher and Great Britain age-group triathlete, he brings both professional experience and first-hand understanding of what it takes to develop as an endurance athlete.

His coaching approach is centred around long-term progression, intelligent training load management and consistency. Rather than simply prescribing sessions, Josh uses TrainingPeaks to monitor how athletes are responding to training and continually adapt their programme to balance progression, recovery and performance.

With a background in sports rehabilitation, he also has a particular interest in helping athletes understand the relationship between training load, recovery and injury risk — allowing them to train consistently while continuing to develop.

Josh's goal is to help athletes become better, more resilient and more knowledgeable athletes, rather than simply getting them through their next race.
